They don’t say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for nothing. It gives us energy and prepares our metabolism and blood sugar levels for the day. Thus, it is important to feed our bodies the breakfast they deserve!
I simply adore smoothies, and ever since I started regularly making them, so do my family members! In this recipe, I made thick smoothie-in-a-bowl, but you can also alternate the recipe by adding more milk, blending all the ingredients and putting it in a shaker to take it on the go :).
Ingredients for Smoothie Bowl for 1 person:
50 gr rolled oats
1 1/2 cups of rice milk
1/2 tbsp organic peanut butter
1 tbsp granulated toasted almonds
1 tbsp chia seeds
a handful of blueberries
cinnamon to taste
And now – time to be creative! I did my smoothie base by blending half of a banana, rice milk and some cinnamon and topped it with the remaining ingredients, but you can blend chia or some of the other ingredients if you don’t want to put them on top. Instead of granulated almonds you can add regular almonds (although I do love the crunch 🙂 ). If you’d prefer a sweeter base, don’t go for refined sugar – add maple syrup or honey instead.
And there you have it, nutritionally rich breakfast faster than you can say… smoothie bowl!
